Today was one of those rare, but so anticipated winter days in the Northwest. It was cold, not too much above freezing, but clear blue skies and the sun was out. I went out for a hike in the foothills this morning for bout 5 hours this morning, and it was wonderful.

This month got away from me with work, some stuff getting done around the house and travel, it’s been good. Today I finally got a little time and it was not raining to get the monthly picture from the back window.
The autumn is certainly here and I do need to sweep the leaves from the deck. That will be followed by probably do my least favorite job getting onto the roof to clean the gutters. But the view is beautiful.
OK, so I’ve missed a couple of months of the view from my window at the beginning of the month, but here is this months. The trees at the back of the house are hanging on (but you’d never know it looking at all the leaves on the deck) better than the ones on the front.
Another week or two and I’m sure the deck will be buried under fallen leaves. I’ve friends that talk wistfully of “sweater weather” and the autumn, I miss summer.
Last night before bed I went for a wander around the town center. The rather good hotel is right in the middle of a very pretty town center, it’s a very attractive place. It’s a small town and I suspect it’s not a place on too many tourist itineraries, but has a lot going on. If it were not for work travel I’d never see places like this and that would be a loss.

And now a couple of the town square from my hotel room window early this morning as my jet-lagged mind is wide awake at 4am, I ended up doing a couple of hours of work.

Another interesting day, full of “WTF… Really?” conversations. One thing I do know is that my life is rarely boring. There are some people who are looking increasingly desperate; it’s interesting to watch.
Now, if you will excuse me I’m going to have some fun tonight.
“Oh yeah, that’s a text book ear infection… Nasty… Now lets talk about your colon, how long ago was your last colonoscopy? ”

After some interesting discussions today I feel more positive than ever about the future and what I’m building. I am making my house my own, it’s so exciting to have the stability and surety that I’ve been missing.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the creativity I spoke about a few days ago, I am building something just wonderful and feel so positive about tomorrow. I am so fortunate. I have a great career that is getting back on track, wonderful friends and a great family.
OK, I have chosen to live here up to now and it’s easy to complain about the weather, especially this time of year. Yes I know Seattle and the Northwest has a reputation for rain, and as much as people who live here defend it with an “Its not as bad as people think”, there is some truth to it.

Yesterday in the car
It’s almost April, the threat of snow is long gone, but it’s wet and that’s just how the early spring is. The summers are awesome, but when I move I’ll not miss the long grey winters. This last month or two has seemed particularly bad for the rain, since I got back from Winnipeg three weeks ago it has rained every day except two or three.

Leaden skies and saturated ground in the Snohomish River valley
As is typical at this time of year I do feel the desire to go somewhere warm and feel the sun on my arms for a day or two, pool time with a book would make it even better.
A quick trip into Everett after work to deal with a couple of things. I do love living in this part of the world, but there are so many other places to live yet.
